Riding the NC500; Scenic, Serene, and Spectacular!

The NC500 has always bee a biker’s dream. The mix of winding roads, lush scenery and rich history makes for an experience that you can never have in your climate controlled AC cars.

Riding the NC500 would be on the top of the ‘to-Do’ list for any rider touring Scotland because one simply cannot get enough of the beautiful Bealach Na Bà, the twist of Loch Maree, and all the way to the fishing villages up north.

Besides a bunch of hauntingly beautiful small islands, there are a lot of other places that are worth visiting. The natural beauty of the route is going to make you pull that camera often. You will be running into a lot of castles, ruins, distilleries, pubs, museums, and mountains.

The Inverness Castle

This castle is the start or end, depending on whether you start the journey clockwise and anticlockwise. Try climbing the north tower for 360 degrees view of the Inverness and the beautiful surroundings. You can enquire about the legends and myths and you are not going to be disappointed.

The Loch Ness

As always, safety first!

There are many other amazing places to look out for. There is the Isle of Skye, Bealach Na Ba, Smoo Cave, Castle and Gardens of Mey, Whaligoe Steps, Camster Cairns, etc. The entire stretch is a tarmac road with fuel readily available.
